Round 2 would prove to be an interesting
turn of events in the Junior B class. After being given a riding
lesson by both the Motordirex riders in the first round of the BCPBRA
and PCMRC race 2, Nick McComber had other ideas coming into this
event. The 27 GP3-R09 of Aiello Theys would suffer from all sorts of problems
this round. A faulty tyre valve would hold air for no more than
2 minutes and a gas line disconnecting spilling fuel on the rear
tyre causing the 9 year old to crash coming off the fastest section
of the track. The spin would prove to do more damage mentally as
Theys would lose a load of confidence for the remainder of the day.
Race One The battle for 2nd spot would be a close one as a rejuvenated McComber
and a confidence shot Theys would swap positions several times.
Theys would come out ahead by less than a tyre length over the 20
machine of McComber as they crossed the finish line. Race Two While McComber looked comfortable running ahead of the GP3-R09
of Tyrrell, our points leader had other plans. With a great show
of maturity and patience, Tyrrell would happily sit behind McComber
lap after lap until a move down the inside into the last corner
would put the 69 machine into the lead. Tyrrell would gap McComber
and take the win with McComber in 2nd and a suffering Theys in third.
