Though it was round 4 of
the Canadian National mini series, it was the first time the Motordirex
Mini Moto team would contest machines outside of the pocket bike
realm. Going from regional to national rules would have the boys
racing in the 7 to 10 age class.
In qualifying, the number 69 pocket bike of Ayrton Tyrrell would
take pole after crashing and fighting back hard to beat Teagan Edie
out of Saskatchewan. Aiello Theys number 26 mini moto would DNF
with mechanical failure but would take to the grid for the race.
In the main event the two brothers would rocket away from the number
8 Honda of Edie with Aiello leading through the first half of the
opening lap. Ayrton would get a run and out-brake his team mate
but the 26 bike would not give up easy. Aiello would shadow his
brother for the entire race looking for a chance to strike but Ayrton
would ride a perfect race to finish a single bike length ahead of
the 26 mini moto machine.
The number 8 Honda CRF50 of Edie would take 3rd half a lap behind
the Motordirex Mini Moto duo.
The 26 and 69 bikes would also race in the 40cc Open class against
water cooled machines but with a small grid would have Ayrton getting
3rd overall and Aiello finishing 4th.
