Round 2 of the Pacific Coast Mini Racing Club was held this year on June 15th, Fathers Day. For mini moto racers Ayrton and Aiello Hall this race wasnt a moment to soon as it has been over one month since Round 1 of the 2008 season. For the 7 to 10 race class, the Motordirex team ran solo in round 1 and were hoping for some more participation this round. That participation came from Nick McComber, son of James McComber of the BC Pocket Bike Racing Association. With only a field of 3 riders all piloting what would seem to be similar machinery in 49cc air-cooled bikes, it was anybodies race. At the drop of the flag it was Nick McComber getting the whole shot into turn one followed by the 69 bike of Ayrton with Aiello in tow. McComber would hit the gas hard when a loose chain would cause the number 7 bike to lock the rear tyre with a chain wrapped around the rear sprocket. This would see the brothers Hall swerve to avoid a collision with the 10 year old, McComber. With Nick out of the competition, Ayrton cruised to an easy win with the 26 bike of Aiello running an even more relaxed race finishing 8 seconds behind after 10 laps to second place. Round 3 comes on July 13, 2008 at Tradex where the Motordirex Mini Moto hope to enjoy similar success. More testing should get underway this weekend at Camosun College. |
