The Motordirex Mini Moto team took
to the track for the first time this season for Round 2 of the PCMRC
series. Besides testing the new GP3-R09's, this would be the first
chance the team would have to see how the new machinery would stack
up against the competition.
Race 1 would see Ayrton Tyrrell take the holeshot followed by Nick
McComber in 2nd and Aiello Theys in third. Aiello would soon pass
McComber before the first lap was complete but would suffer from
engine troubles that putting the 27 bike out of the race. Ayrton
went on to win in convincing style followed by McComber.
There was a lot of work in the pits before race two to get the
27 bike back on form. With the issue seemingly sorted for Aiello
the riders took to the grid for the final race of the day.
At the drop of the green flag the Motordirex boys launched from
the start line for some formation racing with the 69 bike of Tyrrell
leading the 27 machine of Theys. McComber, after jumping on a second
bike due to tire issues with his 20 machine, had to try and play
catch-up to the blue and white R09's. This would prove easier said
then done with the GP3's clear speed advantage as they pulled away
from McComber to battle amoungst themselves. Aiello would soon settle
with second place as Ayrton would ride hiard to gap his team mate
and take the win with Theys in second. McComber would cross the
line in 3rd spot. |
